Do I need to be physically fit to go on a hunting or pack trip?

This is a horseback vacation in the wilderness of Northwest Wyoming, so doing some physical fitness prior to your trip will greatly increase your odds of having a fun and enjoyable time. We also recommend horseback riding lessons before your trip so you are more comfortable on a horse. We have a strict rider weight restriction of 275 pounds for the safety of clients and horses.

What’s included in a trip?

We provide horses, camps with tents, cots, and chairs, breakfasts and coffee, on-the-go lunches, and buffet-style dinners.

What should I bring?

You can find the suggested hunting gear list here and the suggested pack trip list here.

Do you offer day trips?

Yes! We understand not everyone can commit to a week-long trip in the wilderness. We offer trail rides through the backcountry and fly fishing in the Washakie area.

Are gratuities expected on hunting or packing trips?

Tips are very much appreciated by the guides, cooks, and wranglers for a job well done. Boulder Basin Outfitters’ employees work hard and tirelessly to take care of our clients. We recommend a 10-15% gratuity for employees. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Our summer pack trips take place from June through September.

What is the age limit?

Our trips are all family-friendly! We welcome guests ages six and up. Call or email for more information.

Do we keep the fish we catch?

We highly encourage catch and release. Sometimes we may allow you to keep a fish for an evening appetizer.

Everything I wanted and then some for a once in a lifetime elk hunt! Carls camp and team was top notch! Thank you!

The BBO Team and staff made all my wildest dreams, and then some, come true. They were the ultimate professionals, guides, and back country hosts.

This trip allowed me to share some fantastic back country experiences with my parents, not outdoors people, who would have never otherwise been able to see and experience so much. Our lead guide Edda was so knowledgeable, patient and accommodating.

I cant wait to do another trip and will be telling all my friends to do the same.

Just finished 8 day ride with Boulder Basin Outfitters. Worked with Carl and Marissa to setup an eight ride with my wife and myself and they work above and beyond to make it a perfect ride.

The crew, Etta trail boss, Riley wrangler, Lucas camp Jack, and Jack cook took very care of all of us and took very care of the horses and mules. Which means a lot to me.

Etta showed very good leadership skills and great decision making. Words don’t describe Jack’s cooking, it was fantastic! Hope to see all again soon. Thank you so much!”
